“To blog or not to blog”|Bournemouth|2008

This is the question!

In fact it was last nights post on Chromasia that sprung an interesting thread, about where blogging has gone in the last 3 years. For me here on ID7 whilst having a busy home life with kids, and a full-time non-photographic job, I just want inspiration to get out there and use my kit.

I have been quoted as being a follower rather than any kind of leader in my image making, but to be honest I couldn’t care less. For me photography has always been a part of life, since I was handed a 126 camera by my dad, since then some images have been better than others, some get comments , others don’t get any, it really doesn’t matter that much to be honest, lifes too short. I obviously enjoy the thought that people are looking, but for me its being inspired by the work of others, and to get out there and come back with something I am happy with.

And I guess at the end of the day, if I don’t manage to finish a book, this will at least be a legacy for my youngest to enjoy, or laugh at! 😉

Even when you can see hints of chromasia, I think this image stands on its own right for its beauty. The composition and the processing are outstanding and it has its own merit, in my opinion. Great work !!!

Da1King: I am on the case my friend, I promise to get the job complete, it is a challenge as you so put it, and I have all the results of the blog image choices in the can, the list of entries has been drawn up, and book creation has begun, but a GOLDEN opportunity has been waved under my nose, and I must just divert some spare energy to make sure it doesn’t blow away in the wind. I will finish the book.

Sorry so late in posting this comment but I was moved to offer a response. You mentioned that if you “don’t manage to finish a book”. I am an avid RSS subscriber of your and several other blogs. When I hear talk of books being published I get excited. Recently DDOI released two books and the same day I was notified I purchased both in hardback. And they are proudly displayed on my coffee table for anyone to come in and read.
My point is that if you “don’t manage to finish a book” I for one will be very disappointed. I don’t get a chance to view all your comments on each image but I do try to check often hoping to see word that the book is available for ordering. That is how I came across this post. When you first made voting available for each image to be included in your book I started from the beginning of your blog and voted on each and every image you had available.
I know that completing a book is a tremendous undertaking but I feel that failing would be a disappointment to your audience as well as yourself. You may not think so now but down the road you will always look back at what could have been.
So please DON’T GIVE UP and KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

Craig:You can quote Homer anytime, he’s an urban legend.
Dedicated:You make perfect sense to me, thanks for stopping by.
Rob:Thanks
Stock IMages:Thankyou, and thanks for stopping by.
Rhys:Nice to have you back again, and it was actually a section of the New Forest that was burnt down last summer by arson, with the snow I thought it made a slight post apocolyptic scene. 😉

At first I thought this was some kind of post-forest fire shot and that you’d been off traveling somewhere exotic. Then it clicked. A beuatiful image, nuff said.
I quite enjoyed the Chromasia debate and joined in today but not sure if I made any sense!

Well. Not sure if I’m in the place to say this, but I am very happy to hear that’s how you feel. 🙂 It should be; a person should be able take photograph for the simple reason that he enjoys it. You don’t need to be a trailblazer, an innovator, all you have to do is satisfy yourself.
^^; Eheh. Not like I need to tell you that (I doubt it even made sense). But it’s nice to see you’re feeling a bit better about this all.

Stupid Smarch weather as Homer Simpson might say! Nice shot, the tone in the sky is nice and it seems to roll on forever.
As for your other comments, I hear ya! I have to say though I like to get feedback on my images, it spurs me on to get new material and improve, whether those comments are via the blog or otherwise. Lastly the book, I hope it does get finished because I bought a new table to put it on 😉
