Here is a frame that I saw in my head before I shot it. I mean I saw the buildng, and believe me it didn’t take any prisoners in real life. It truly was quite ominous, and foreboding. It had a very turn of the war, German outpost type feel about it, not helped by the flag dangling from the windows, and whilst everything I have shot in Bulgaria so far has been B&W apart from the last frame, I can assure you that it was not a conscious decision, its just the way it happened.

I have a few more frames to post over the next week or so, another portrait, and one or two more observational pieces. I really did enjoy the trip, and have heard back from Chromasia Base Camp that they are all well and settling in, so it was a good job jobbed in my opinion…..

Fantastic! Very creepy, but in a mysterious way. I love the tones, and shadows. Brilliant Craig!

Thanks everyone, it really bugged me, I shot the original series as a HDR, and blew the highlight baecause I’m rubbish, and then was angry at myself for clipping the road out of the frame as well, so I went back and shot it again, but the sky was really bright, so luckily DJN and I had shot a cracking cloud formation that rolled down the valley and I had that in reservce for this shot. So whilst its a visual con, I was quite pleased with the mood it created. Thanks again for stopping by….. csj

The low angle and the converging verticals make this building look very sinister. Nice work.

The mood you describe is well conveyed, in fact when I first saw it I thought of the Action Man Colditz set but then my mind works in a very strange way 😉
Anyway I dig this one, haven’t tried Topaz yet, how’d you find it?

This works well and I’ll try and restrain myself from taking exactly the same shot 😉
