“Always A Special Birthday”|Dyserth|Denbighshire

A Quiet Moment in Dyserth

Today is a bit of a mixed bag. It’s the anniversary of Mike Peters’ passing, which is always a tough one to process, but it’s also my good mate Matt’s birthday.

I took this photo of Matt during one of those brilliant weekenders. We were hanging out at The Chapel at The Red down in Dyserth. It’s just a candid shot of him taking a quiet minute before everything kicked off, but looking at it brings back a lot of good memories. You can even spot the old Alarm poster hanging on the wall behind him.

That was a genuinely special trip. Later that same weekend, we all headed down to Rhyl Town Hall to see Mike play. He was still with us then, and watching him up on that stage doing what he did best is something I’ll always hold onto. It was just one of those perfect nights—standing shoulder to shoulder with mates, taking in the live music.

It’s strange having a day where you’re raising a glass to remember someone you’ve lost, while raising another to celebrate a mate’s birthday. But I’m incredibly grateful for the community Mike built that brought us all together in the first place.

Happy birthday, Matt. Hope you have a great one, mate. And here’s to Mike—thanks for the music and the memories.
