Tonights entry is about "the end" of things. I guess from my perspective (and age!) I've seen a lot of 'projects' start and stop. I too am guilty of trying things out, and giving opportunities a chance at succeeding. But with age comes wisdom, and most of those things that we want to have a go at we have already tried, or we are already doing and it 'just works'.
Don't panic I'm not quitting ID7, this definately works for me, but other areas of the net that I partake in, one favourite of which was Weekly Shot have just announced that it will end after this last project called "farewell". Shame really because it always had high quality shots on the site, and it was a good place for ideas and reference.
People forget about the hours of effort required to maintain these themed sites, and I would just like to say thanks to all those people who bother to comment, and post their own images on meme sites to allow us all to continue sharing our images.
On another note, similar in context but equally depressing, Pooles Historical Main Post Office (of which this is not a shot), has now just become an empty shell, likely to be a bar or club in the near future if R.Carr has his say. It has now become an outlet counter in the towns WHS. All good things come to an end I guess. Ooooo so gloomy tonight, its been raining for 2 days , and seems constantly dark here at the moment.
And to top it all a mates' Dad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and gets his results today. I wish Mr Bull (one of the finest Ears / Nose and Throat Surgeons we have) the best over the next few months, and hope he can ride it out. csj

Been frustrated by my lack of image making time recently, as you can probably gather from the blog entries (or lack of them). So I made time tonight, I had some me time, whilst the littlen was asleep, and I decided to go a bit old school and produced a series of images inspired by a recent ad campaign but more so by a friend Dave @ Chromasia. I remember that a while back he had a series of these shots (his are somewhat better than mine) but this was my first attempt, not only at these shots, but also at shooting tethered and using Adobe Lightroom, it was quite simply excellent and made shooting this waya lot easier, especially as the camera was in an awkward position to frame the shot with the eyepiece, excellent fun tho. I shot about 200 frames and picked the four I was most happy with, used a Metz to light the subject, and a lot of luck. Will post another tommorow.

A quick entry tonight that I was going to enter onto Weekly Shot for the Lines theme, but I missed the entry date, and decided not to anyway, however I still like this image and it holds some elements that I like.
However if I could shoot it again I'd loose a few of the side elements that encrouch upon the composition, but as I can't at the moment get to Kuala Lumpaur I thought i'd maybe shoot something else instead....hohum

Not that there are too many reasons for me to say too much, as I sometimes feel I am talking to myself, and I probably am to some extent, but I figure that for as long as I keep paying my subs, then this small legacy to my name will be here for my kids to read when they get older.
If they can be bothered of course.
Anyway having picked the brains of Dave at Chromasia, I am meddling with some new techniques in Photoshop.
Its one of those tools that for as long as I have known, you will never use all of its power, its possibilites seem endless, I must have been using some type of copy of this software for nearly 15 years....thats how long it feels anyway.
This shot was of the securing plates on the newly installed groynes in Bournemouth, I say new becuase they look new, the timber is fresh and not weathered that much, just the first signs of rust appearing, and streaking down the timbers.
Anyway it caught my eye.... it may not be to your liking. My wife hated it.... hohum.
The best critic I have. Oh and its on Weekly shot for the title "RUST" Click Here to view the entry and comments on WeeklyShot
