'sunday lunch' - Poole

Mel says (my wife) its funny how when she looks at an image of mine, that she knows exactly where it is, even tho shes never been there in her life, but I guess from just second glancing things as we go out on walks and being familiar with our surroundings. For all its down sides, Poole has quirky little shops and eateries, to some they might seem a little backward or old fashioned, but they are what they are, and they make up the landscape of what I guess Poole is all about. I hope some of it doesnt change.......ever.......

Now that I've posted this image I'm not as happy with it as I was whilst editing it...... uhm mental note, to try harder............. csj

Ok applied some artistic licence at 20:18GMT and changed the tonality, I'm a little happier now..... phewww.

I don't know why you're not happy with this one. There are a couple of distractions - the blown highlight on the edge of the fruit machine, the edge of something at the bottom of the frame - but it certainly tells a great story. And, FWIW, I like the subdued processing.

Craig, I really like this one, though its difficult to articulate why. I like the tones, and all the distracting elements and confusion, yet the stillness of the two figures.

Craig: Thanks again....

Richard: I have to agree actually, this image is a very frustrating frame, both tonally / content / and end result. Not one of my best, but certainly one, that I wanted to achieve a greater end result with. I even saw teh image in my head, but as yet havent got a result I am 100% happy with. I will try a pure Black and White and start from scratch I think, maybe tommorows post? , thanks for commenting.... csj

I like the potential in this shot but the specific retention of the subdued hues are a distraction. I tend to think that this sort of treatment is rather gimicky. For me B&W would improve things considerably. richard
