Thought I'd spend a bit of time looking back through some old shots.
I sometimes get as inspired looking at old photos as I do from trying to come up with new ideas for images.
Of course some pictures just rock up to the lens and say, "capture that". Others take longer to put together, especially if there are techniques (in camera) or post production techniques required to get the look you are after.
I guess I've pretty much touched all the areas that are of interest to me over the years.
Ranging from chemical enhancement, old processes (cyanotype, bromoil, lith, kallitype, and sunprinting with albumen, sensitizer and pigment). Its been an interesting path to digital, now being able to replicate most techniques on the screen. However I really miss the darkroom, and post production rooms that stink of stop, and fix, and just the general photographic spaces I used to frequent.
Old school techniques are probably going to come back full circle, I'm certainly keen to find a local darkroom, and get in their and get my hands dirty again.....
As ever leave me a comment.
Oh and by the way, this was a shot of the "Old Harry Rocks", off of the Poole Coastline... shot from a very rocky old boat....Ed
